Event Details
This class is great for anyone that would like to prolong the life of their machine, maintain the quality of its stitches and lengthen the periods in between professional services.
We’ll cover the upper and lower parts of the machine and talk about maintenance frequency. This is easy home maintenance, not complicated machine servicing. Please bring the sewing machine you want to learn to maintain. You’ll leave with a clean, lubricated machine with balanced tension and the skills to maintain it.
This class includes a maintenance kit for you to take home!
You’ll get everything you need to maintain your sewing machine for the long run. Including a variety of cleaning tools, sewing machine oil and even a mini vacuum cleaner!
While you don’t need any experience cleaning or lubricating your machine, you should be able to thread your machine and sew test swatches.
POLICIES:
Review all workshop policies in advance of registering here.
This class will run with a minimum of 5 students and is capped at 8 students.
Workshop registrations are non-refundable. Please double-check your schedule before signing up to ensure you are available on all dates that we meet. If you need to miss a class, please note that missed sessions cannot be made up or refunded.
LOCATION & ACCESSIBILITY:
The Slow Fashion Academy studio is located in Firehouse Arts Germantown, 5231 Germantown Avenue, B06, Philadelphia, PA 19144 (United States).
To enter the building, dial 0-6-bell on the keypad to the left of the door and we will buzz you in.
There is plenty of free street parking along Germantown Avenue, and the 23 SEPTA bus stops right in front of the building at the corner of Germantown Ave. and Bringhurst St. There is also a bike rack in front of Tipsy Cafe, next door. We are a half-mile walk from the Wister stop on SEPTA regional rail.
The studio is on the basement level of the building, down a flight of stairs. Unfortunately, we are not wheelchair accessible.
DO I NEED TO BRING ANYTHING?
Bring your sewing machine and it’s foot pedal. Take the time to wind a fresh bobbin before you come and remember a spool of thread. If your machine came with a screw driver, that might come in handy too. If you’ve misplaced yours, don’t stress, we have plenty!
